This is the age of cyber espionage, and people are more aware than ever but it need not be uncomfortable sticking a tape to webcam, paranoid of internet.

We are trying to be careful and that's alright. Now, I am going to unfold a lesser-known way to safeguard ourselves from webcam spying.

There is a way to disable the webcam driver which disables the webcam at hardware level preventing unauthorized use of webcam through web exploits.

Lets get started,

Go to windows menu and right-click to open Device manager

Then navigate to Cameras to see available cameras in your device. In this case, I have one integrated camera.

Lets disable the camera.

Right click the camera to see the options Update driver, Disable device, Uninstall device

Select disable device and tadaa!!! Your webcam is now disabled at hardware level and you can use when ever you think you need it but not when someone remotely tries to access it.
